The following is a very long version of how Flat Top came to be.
Flat Top came about from three members of the Ripley High show choir. Tyler Levering
approached Jeff McKay (show choir guitarist) about forming a band to play at the school variety show. Jeff agreed. Flat Top
was formed for the sole purpose to show Ripley that there was more metal than just DeathCore War Machine. The seached then
led to the discovery of Matt McGrew (show choir drummer). He said it would be a great oppertunity to play music he loves with
great musicians. So Flat Top was born, only their name was Matt, Jeff, and The Fat Man (it was later changed to Flat Top shortly
after the variety show). Two variety shows, a choir banquet, Relay for Life, and their hosting of the "Michael Bolton presents"
Riverfront Park festival, Flat Top is now a metal force. And we hope to stay that way. With odd time signatures, screaming
guitar riffs, and the sexiest line up around, Flat Top is here to stay.
